The Nutting Studio was known to deviate from the norm so its possible to find other sizes. Where you find mats were cropped it was either to fit a molded frame, or as a matter of taste usually by a purchaser in a retail framing shop outside of the Nutting Studio. Photographs were mounted on a mat in a plate mark indentation, (pre 1930's), or on a flat mat with a border, usually black in color, silk screened on the mat around the edges of the picture, (1930's and later).
Photographs were also sold mounted on calendars, in mirror frames and in 3" x 4" tin frames.
