This photograph is a scene of Webster Pond, the lake with the long name in Webster, Massachusetts. It is almost identical to Pine Landing, studio #437. In comparing the two you can see that Nutting moved a few feet to his left when he made this image.

Wallace Nutting illustrated "Pine Landing" on pg 251 in his 1925 book, 'Massachusetts Beautiful' with the title, "Lake Chauggoggagogmanchauggagogchabunagungamaug".

According to Wallace Nutting the translation of this name is said to be "A thousand bays", but he does not "guarantee the correctness of the etymology".
