A Birch Approach - Studio # 7278

This picture is a scene of the roadway leading to the Greystone Lodge in Antrim, New Hampshire. Wallace Nutting illustrated this picture in his 1928 book, New Hampshire Beautiful, on page 187 of the first edition and on page 161 of the second edition.

Wallace Nutting wrote about this picture: "The Antrim Birches are one of the sights of the state. The bark is of pale salmon color. Some of these trees bid fair in time to be among the wonders of the world, in an arboreal sense, if they are carefully preserved."
