This picture was made in Concord, Massachusetts. It is illustrated on page 454 of the 1915 Expansible Sales catalog. Another very similar picture, showing the model seated and looking to the left, is, "A Discovery" studio #3298. There are two other titles in this series in which the colonial woman is standing in front of the grandfather's clock. They are actually the same photograph cropped differently. One, "Winding The Old Tall Clock" studio #3302, is made in the landscape format and shows the room in its entirety as seen above. The other, "Grandfather's Clock" studio #3602, is the same scene only cropped in the portrait format making the colonial woman and the grandfather's clock the central theme.
