This picture was made 1912/13 inside Wallace Nutting's House, "Nuttingholm" in Framingham, MA. The spinet was made by Jocobus Kirkman in London in 1748. Wallace Nutting wrote that this room had, "nearly every feature of the "best room" of an old house. The spinet is an excellent ancient type. [The true piano is very much later. The spinet was made to be lifted from its legs, to which it was not attached]. The round table has the usual three legs and the "pie-crust" top. The card-table has over it a wood carved mirror. The plaster mirrors are of course all recent. All the chairs show the invariable Chippendale ear. The candlesticks in some cases have shades of glass to shield the candles from draught."
This picture was advertised for sale in the Nutting Studio 1915 Expansible Catalog on pg 478. It is also illustrated in Nutting's book Massachusetts Beautiful on pg 159. The model is Helen Goss Stackhouse
