Wallace Nutting described this scene from Rhode Island as: "A winter scene with a good deal of sentiment. The grandfather has brought the young couple with the children back to the old gambrel roofed cottage, for a Christmas visit. Nevertheless, because this is a winter scene, it is not popular." Wallace Nutting illustrated this picture in his 1927 book, 'Photographic Art Secrets' (plate 40) with the title, "Christmas Welcome Home."
