Decked As A Bride - #73 - (hand Colored)

This hand tinted photograph was made in Berkshire, Massachusetts. one of Wallace Nutting's most popular selling titles. Wallace Nutting advertised this picture for sale in his 1912 Picture Catalog on page 16. He also illustrated it in his book, ‘Massachusetts Beautiful’ on page 224 of the first edition and on page 189 of the second edition. It is one of several titles with a "wedding" or "honeymoon" title that was marketed to be given as wedding gifts. A very successful idea at the time.

Decked As A Bride - (Process Picture)

To boost sales in the 1930's the Nutting Studio sold "Decked As A Bride" plus seven other titles as process pictures. In 1942 four more titles were added. Process pictures had the color applied by mechanical means instead of having it applied by hand. The process picture is 13" x 15" (+/-). They were sold close framed, or matted and framed. If mounted on a mat the frame size will commonly be 18" x 22" (+/-). It will not be signed and the title will be on the mat below the lower right corner of the picture. Pictures framed at the studio had a label affixed to the dust cover identifying it as an 'authentic process picture'. "Decked As A Bride" will be embossed, "© WALLACE NUTTING" in gold block letters. If you are in doubt as to whether your picture is a hand colored or process picture, examine it under magnification. You will notice the matrix dots of the machine process instead of the hand applied coloring. For a view of all the process pictures made turn to the Process Pictures page.

Process Pictures can commonly be found unframed and unmatted as a large quantity was left over when the Nutting Studio closed.
