Wallace Nutting Library

The 17th Century - Studio # 10

This picture was taken in Wallace Nutting's Southbury, CT home he called "Nuttinghame". It is illustrated in his 1912 picture catalog on pg 27 and in his 1915 Expansible catalog on pg 479.

When he sold this house in 1912, the retired banker who had already made a deposit and was assured that he "owned" the house said, "I don't mind telling you that wild horses could not have pulled me out of this room."

This room was used as a backdrop more often than any other. I know of at least twenty-two other titles that were photographed in this room alone. They are:

Christmas Jelly, #52 A Plate of Goodies, #67
The Cup That Cheers, #72 A Bit of Sewing, #173
Comfort and A Cat, #545 A Sip of Tea, #551
Bean Porridge Hot, #591 Thanksgiving Goodies, #595
The Tea Maid, #602 Mending, #677
Maiden Reveries, #681 An Afternoon Tea, #703
Confidences, #704 Prudence Drawing Tea, #707
The Maple Sugar Cuppard, #734 The Home Room, #745
An Elaborate Dinner, #746 The Window Garden, 771
A Dilatory Escort, #772 The Work Basket, #2736
Clarinda at Home Sewing by the fire
