Connecticut Sunflower Chest - # 931

In describing the importance of this original reproduction, Wallace Nutting wrote: "Had early New England craftsmen created no other article of furniture save the Connecticut Sunflower chest, this one production alone would serve to earn them everlasting distinction. It is beyond doubt, the greatest and noblest furniture heritage from the American past. It is far too fine to be made in quantity. So we fashioned it only to order for the very discerning few who can and do appreciate such superb style. And when the Wallace Nutting workers are told to produce this chest they revel in their opportunity and concieve a reproduction worthy of the marvelous original. The carvings are all done by hand. Frankly, we have had the pleasure of making but a few of these chests, but those few we have made are a few more than the Ameican public own to use and admire."

Size: 48 1/4 inch long; 21 1/4 inch wide; 40 inch high.
