Wallace Nutting said of this style chair, "This sort of chair is perhaps the most graceful among side chairs,.....Even when the ear is not carved, it is, if small, attractive and very convenient as the temporary hook for a hat or garment."
Of this particular chair he writes, "There is an air about this chair that suggest the dignity and bearing of the people of its period. The curved and carved comb, the gradefully tapered and turned legs that are sharply raked, the slender appearing but substantial spindles, the staunch seat and the beautifully turned cross-stretcher, all combine to create a wonderfully effective and pleasing style. There is, perhaps, not other one Wondsor chair so generally useful - none that weems to slide so harmoniously into the picture with other furniture. For dining room purposes, however, the bow back No. 301 is preferred. Matches our No. 415 arm chair."
