Wallace Nutting Library

Furniture Treasury
Vol. I & II published 1928
Vol. III published 1933

Considered the bible of antiques by many. Volume One and Two were published in 1928 with over five-thousand illustrations of period furniture, mostly of American origin. It also includes American hardware and household utensils. Volume Three was published 1933 and is illustrated with pen drawings by Ernest John Donnelly, who, in addition to being Wallace Nutting's business manager from 1926 to Dr. Nutting's death in 1941, also penned silouhettes for the Nutting studio.

Furniture Treasury was issued with a white dust jacket similar to the style issued with the States Beautiful Series. I have seen several sets with a dust jacket for volume One and volume Two but not for volume three.

A leather bound special edition set was made in limited numbers. In some, Wallace Nutting tipped in a hand colored photograph opposite the title page in each volume, signed in his own hand.

Several reprints were made 1948 and later by MacMillan Publishing Co, Inc. Some with Volume One and Two in one unabridged edition. They are not in demand by collectors but are valued mostly for their content.
